Description

Water Resources Project Engineer

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Water Resources Project Engineer to join our renewables team,

The qualified individual will lead and manage permitting, design, and construction of Solar and Wind development projects. This position will serve as a technical lead coordinating with other Civil and Water Resources Engineers to ensure projects are protected from flooding and meet stormwater regulations. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Primary Responsibilities

Job duties include leading stormwater design, watershed permitting, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, and FEMA studies using state-of-the-art technology. More specific duties include:

  • Lead the development of hydrologic and hydraulic models
  • Manage and coordinate with civil, electrical, and environmental teams within Westwood
  • Perform and review drainage calculations and designs
  • Prepare and oversee design drawings and design calculations
  • Write and review technical reports documenting design methodologies
  • Lead site visits and inspections as needed
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development
  • Support the construction stormwater team with shear stress calculations, exhibit creation, and erosion control design
  • Find and utilize various GIS datasets to support work on water resources and other related projects
  • Communicate directly with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Lead proposal development and business development efforts
Requirements
  • BS or MS degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in stormwater hydrology and modeling
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Proven project management experience
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Advanced problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to write technical proposals, reports, and publications
  • Self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with competing priorities
  • Experience with renewable energy projects (solar/wind) preferred
