Conflicts Analyst I Steptoe LLP, an Am Law 100 firm headquartered in Washington, DC, is seeking a Conflicts Analyst I to join its Conflicts & Intake Compliance (CIC) team. This position may be based in the Washington, DC office or filled remotely.
As a key member of the Conflicts & Intake Compliance group, the Conflicts Analyst I supports the firmwide new business intake process, lateral hire and incoming personnel conflicts clearance, and ongoing departmental initiatives. The role interacts regularly with lawyers and professional staff across all domestic and international offices in a fast paced, high responsibility environment. The Conflicts Analyst I is responsible for conducting corporate research; completing and analyzing all stages of the conflict check process for new clients, matters, and incoming lawyers; and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of conflicts data. This position requires exceptional communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities. Responsibilities: * Prepare conflict check reports for new matter requests, incoming personnel (including laterals, attorneys, and staff), and other firm or departmental projects. * Navigate and utilize the firm's conflicts database and develop a thorough understanding of the Intapp Intake/Conflicts system and related platforms used by the Conflicts & Intake Compliance Department. * Conduct corporate research using internal and external resources to determine organizational and affiliate structures relevant to conflicts analysis. * Maintain and update conflicts records to ensure all matter and entity information is accurate, complete, and current. * Respond to inquiries from lawyers and business professionals regarding client and matter status, matter opening and reporting needs, and departmental procedures. * Maintain a strong working knowledge of applicable firm policies and best practices; serve as a resource to colleagues regarding the new business intake process. * Safeguard confidential information and exercise sound judgment and discretion while ensuring compliance with ethical and business obligations. * Support broader departmental initiatives and ongoing projects as assigned. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree. * Minimum 2 years of conflictsrelated experience in a midsized or large law firm. * Demonstrated experience with business intake systems, including Intapp Intake/Conflicts, and research tools such as Moody's (Orbis, Compliance Catalyst, World Compliance), Dun & Bradstreet, LexisNexis, and similar platforms. * Strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and consistent attention to detail. * Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all organizational levels. * Ability to work efficiently under pressure, independently manage competing deadlines, and meet time sensitive demands. * Willingness to work flexible or extended hours when urgent requests or deadlines arise. Work Environment: * Non smoking environment. * Ability to work in the office or remotely during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. * Availability to work outside regular hours when required. * Ability to operate under tight deadlines and manage high pressure demands. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $68,000 to $78,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
