ABOUT THE ROLE

The Associate Estimator C&I is responsible for various tasks within project cost estimation for commercial/industrial electrical construction. Responsibilities include assisting in developing accurate, competitive, and profitable bid proposals.

Boulos Company (ESB) - a subsidiary of MYR Group Inc. - performs electrical construction services throughout the Northeastern U.S. We have two divisions, offering both powerline construction and commercial/industrial electrical construction, making us a full-service electrical provider.

ESB's commercial and industrial electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, telecommunications, traffic signalization, gas distribution, high voltage distribution service and maintenance. We also offer design-build and pre-construction services and has in-house pre-fabrication and AutoCAD capabilities.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and input into computer estimating system

  • Understand and monitor program scope of work to ensure estimates are completed prior to deadlines

  • Schedule and attend field job walk with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to determine constructability requirements

  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications

  • Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency

  • Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages, including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, supplies, and schedule.

  • Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stake holders

  • After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project

  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures

  • Regular and predictable attendance

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location

  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards


ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Experience with construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Team player mentality
