The Executive Director of Business Services serves as the institution's Treasurer and provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the University's core financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury operations, and related compliance functions. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Business & Auxiliary Services, this position ensures the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of the University's financial records and internal control environment. The position leads continuous process improvement initiatives, supports enterprise-wide financial systems, and collaborates across campus to advance the University's mission and strategic goals. Responsibilities
-
- Provide leadership and direct supervision for accounting, student finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and financial reporting functions.
- Oversee preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards.
- Lead fiscal year-end close processes and coordinate external audit activities.
- Ensure integrity and governance of the University's chart of accounts and financial approval workflows, and records retention.
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies and procedures.
- Oversee treasury-related activities including cash management, banking relationships, and liquidity monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and reporting requirements.
- Provide accounting support and direction to the University's Foundation(s)
- Provide leadership in implementation, optimization, and maintenance of enterprise financial systems (e.g., ERP platforms such as Ellucian Banner).
- Develop and mentor high-performing teams; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and guidance to campus budget officers and departments regarding financial policies, procedures, and systems.
- Serve on institutional committees and represent Business Services in campus-wide initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of institutional objectives.

Qualifications
-
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, as well as Masters of Accountancy or closely-related degree, required. CPA certification preferred.
- At least five (5) years' direct accounting experience, with progressively higher levels of responsibility including team leadership, required. Experience in higher education accounting is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge in the use of Microsoft office products, in particular Excel and Access.
- Extensive experience in the use of Banner and Banner Modules, including FR, AP, AR, and Fixed Assets.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- An eagerness to engage with colleagues, to develop ways to improve the Business office policies and procedures.
- Good knowledge of accounting rules and regulations as they apply to higher education.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $95,000+ depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of May 2026.
