Work Schedule: This is a 100% FTE salaried position scheduled to typically work Monday through Friday, day shift hours, however some off hours or weekends may be required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will primarily work at University Hospital with occasional travel required. Description: Join the #1 hospital in Wisconsin! We are seeking a Nursing Education Specialist or a RN-Nursing Educator to join our Level 1 Trauma Emergency Medicine and Transport Teams to:
- Lead onboarding and continued professional development for experienced nursing staff supporting UW Health's Level I Adult Trauma Emergency Department and Med Flight air and ground critical care transport teams.
- Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive education programs supporting high-acuity emergency and transport care, including extended orientations (up to 20 weeks) and specialty competency development.
- Partner closely with Emergency Department and Transport CNSs, nurse leaders, and interprofessional teams to advance evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and patient safety.
- Support nursing practice in a fast-paced academic environment delivering advanced emergency, trauma, stroke, STEMI, ECPR, and critical care transport services across the region.
- Serve as a clinical education resource and mentor, collaborating with Nurse Residency educators when applicable and promoting professional growth across emergency and transport nursing teams.
- Participate in organization-wide initiatives, shared governance, and system education efforts while completing assigned Nursing Education Specialist responsibilities aligned with UW Health priorities.
- Provide expertise and resources in the area of support; for this position, three years of emergency medicine nursing experience (emergency room, critical care transport, and/or med flight) is highly preferred as well as experience in nursing education.
Pay:
- Pay range is based on a full-time (100%) position.
- Salary is prorated based on FTE.
- Pay range on posting is based on both job title pay ranges combined, see specific ranges for each position title below:
- RN-Nursing Educator Pay Range: $90,552-$135,784
- Nursing Education Specialist Pay Range: $97,764-$146,646

Qualifications: Please note there are two job titles with different qualifications listed below.
- RN-Nursing Educator:
- Bachelor of Science - Nursing degree (BSN) Required
- Must obtain Master's degree in Nursing in relevant specialty within five (5) years of start date in this position Required
- Nursing Education Specialist:
- Master's Degree in Nursing Required
- Master's Degree in Nursing Education Preferred
Work Experience:
- RN-Nursing Educator:
- Three (3) years of relevant nursing experience Required
- Previous experience as a nursing educator Preferred
- Five (5) years of relevant nursing experience Preferred
- Experience in an academic medical center Preferred
- Nursing Education Specialist:
- 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
- 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience with position specific patient population Preferred
- 3 years of experience providing orientation and education for nursing staff in clinical setting Preferred
Licenses & Certifications:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
- Basic Life Support BLS/CPR certification Upon Hire Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months Required
- National certification in relevant specialty Preferred
