Client Development Manager

Job Summary:

The Client Development Manager (CDM) is responsible for identifying, developing, and leading new business initiatives and expanding existing client relationships in support of Choate Wealth. Working closely with the Practice Chairs, the CDM develops and executes comprehensive marketing, branding, and business development strategies that strengthen the firm's market presence and fuel growth.

Core responsibilities include designing and implementing targeted lead-generation tactics to expand the client pipeline, increase revenue opportunities, and deepen existing relationships. The CDM will also oversee the execution of brand-enhancing initiatives, such as thought leadership campaigns, digital presence, client experience enhancements, and firmwide visibility efforts, to ensure consistent, high-impact representation of the Choate Wealth brand across all channels.

Through strategic partnership, proactive collaboration, and a deep understanding of the Wealth Practice's objectives, the CDM is expected to become an indispensable business partner to Choate Wealth leaders, portfolio managers, and trustee partners.


Job Functions:

  • Identify and execute business development, marketing, and client initiatives for trustees and investment team. This includes targeting initiatives, marketing tactics, and tailored client development strategies to grow their individual practices and segments.
  • Develop and leverage deep client and practice knowledge to target and support go-to-market strategy including goal generation and execution, tracking lead flow and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Drive tactics for strengthening relationships with clients, prospective clients, and intermediaries, including interacting directly with these contacts.
  • Keep abreast of key practice group and industry developments to maximize opportunities including production of marketing materials and content, podcasts, events, and client outreach opportunities.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the practice's web presence and BD/Marketing materials are relevant, timely, differentiating, and impactful.
  • Manage client pitch pursuits and client presentations, including proposal content development.
  • Collaborate on Firm-sponsored events. Manages the process from conception through completion and works with Practice Chairs and investment team to identify appropriate speaking and sponsorship opportunities that align with business development goals.
  • Oversee the development of relevant directory submissions and rankings across appropriate publications, maximizing group visibility.
  • Proactively partner with Business Intelligence Manager to provide the practice group with an ongoing understanding of the competitive landscape (including shifts in the competitive landscape).
  • Works collaboratively with all WMG leaders and other Marketing Department members to achieve the Firm's marketing and business development goals, as well as other Firm-wide initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. MBA, CFP, CFA, JD, CIMA, CPWA, or CPA a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in investment advisory, law firm, or other professional services area. Candidates must have proven experience in the wealth management sector, with a strong understanding of industry dynamics and client needs.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience with proposal generation system and/or desktop publishing is required.
  • Knowledge of CRM and effective use in sales and pipeline strategy.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Exceptional writing and editing skills, project management capabilities, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Strong business acumen, leadership qualities, and collaboration abilities.
  • Strong project execution skills and a positive client service attitude.
  • Grace under pressure, solid judgement, discretion, and trustworthiness.


Work Authorization:

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the salary range for this specific position at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to qualifications and experience, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
