THE POSITION

In this important role, you will perform a variety of custodial duties within institutional buildings and on the surrounding grounds to help maintain a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for the residents of South Mountain Restoration Center. Nestled in the scenic mountains near Michaux State Forest, South Mountain Restoration Center is a skilled nursing home facility that provides long-term care and is operated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will use custodial supplies and cleaning materials and operate and maintain equipment and machines following established procedures and safety guidelines. You will be assigned to designated areas by a manager or supervisor and will perform a range of cleaning and housekeeping duties, including mopping, dusting, polishing furniture, washing walls, replenishing supplies, and emptying and cleaning trash containers. Additionally, you will operate both manual and mechanical equipment according to instructions and help move or lift furniture and equipment when needed. You will also work with other department staff and make adjustments to meet the needs of residents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are as follows: one position is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM; two positions are scheduled from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You will rotate on and off duty days, including weekends and holidays, and each shift includes a 30-minute lunch. Schedules may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Willingness to work in Franklin County, Pennsylvania
  • Previous custodial, janitor, or cleaning experience
  • Experience as a custodial or housekeeping in the following areas or settings (Experience might include working in such areas as hospital, nursing home, correctional facility, fast food, cafeteria, or school.)
  • Experience collecting and disposing of infectious waste into proper storage areas
  • Experience removing snow, trash and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
  • Experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
  • Experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax and buff floors
  • Experience in the following tasks: operating floor scrubbing machine, use of ladders to clean high areas, proper handling of cleaning chemicals, interacting with patients or residents, snow removal from walkways and entrances, changing light bulbs, cleaning furniture, mopping (wet or dry mop), and scrubbing
