THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position assists the Portfolio Manager, Deputy Chief Investment Officer, and Chief Investment Officer with data collection, analysis, and research related to investment strategies, trends, risks, and economic factors across all investment asset classes: Private Equity, Real Estate, U.S. Equity, International Equity, Emerging Markets Equity, Fixed Income, Inflation Protection, and Cash. Responsibilities include direct involvement and coordination with internal staff, investment consultants, and external investment firms and are performed in accordance with the State Employees' Retirement Code, other applicable state, federal, and international laws and regulations, and the SERS investment policy statement.

After successful completion of the training year, the employee in this position will be promoted to Junior Investment Analyst with a corresponding increase in pay. An employee also may be eligible for a pay increase of up to 2% each time the employee successfully completes one of the two levels of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) certification exam, as well as a pay increase of up to 2.5% each time the employee successfully completes one of the three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification exam.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week, 7.5-hour workday, Monday through Friday.
  • Work hours: A work schedule beginning and ending between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, inclusive, with a half-hour or one-hour unpaid meal period will be considered, depending on operational requirements. The requested schedule may not end prior to 4:00 PM.
  • Telework: This is a full-time telework position. Occasional onsite visits to the Harrisburg headquarters location and travel to meetings at external investment firms and consultant offices may be required. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location in Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you must work onsite at the work location specified in this job posting. Telework arrangements are subject to change. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, finance, or statistics from an accredited U.S. college or university or a certified foreign studies equivalency; or
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or a certified foreign studies equivalency which includes or is supplemented by 24 semester hour credits in accounting, economics, finance, statistics, or a related field.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must possess satisfactory communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You must be adept at problem-solving and decision-making.
  • You must possess satisfactory job knowledge (investment concepts, economic theories, quantitative methods, investment modeling, and statistical analysis principles and techniques).
  • You must demonstrate satisfactory knowledge of computer hardware and software needed to conduct statistical analysis.
  • You must demonstrate satisfactory initiative and motivation.
