Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is looking for an experienced Administrative Assistant to work in our New Design Directorate Shipboard Electrical Systems (SES) Department. We are looking for an individual with a solid track record of accomplishment, strong teaming and communication skills and a desire to learn and grow in their role. The successful candidate will collaborate with the SES Administrative Team to provide administrative and office management support as needed across the department. This position involves the typical administrative responsibilities for a technical organization (e.g. development and review of technical correspondence, arrangement of travel, records management, etc.) and may include assisting in other office management responsibilities such as tracking budgets (e.g. travel, fee), website development/maintenance and the application of administrative skills and knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

Preferred Skills

  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.) and interest in developing and maintaining these skills
  • Understanding of Adobe editing program Bluebeam or equivalent
  • Understanding of Concur and travel systems/software

Pay Range
$51,800.00 - $77,700.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
