The American Red Cross is currently seeking an Aquatics Program Senior Manager. This is a remote position with limited travel. Preferred: Current lifeguard and advanced water safety certifications, along with experience in aquatics program development, lifeguard training, and facility management.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

Reporting to the Director, Aquatics Program, the Senior Manager will serve as subject matter expert for the Red Cross Aquatics programs. The position is responsible for supporting content development by reviewing and editing technical texts throughout the product development cycle. The role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and relevancy of the Training Services program content.

The role will also assist the Senior Director, Science and Education and Director, Aquatics Programs with ongoing education by being involved in continuing education for Training Services and for review, approval and quality monitoring of our education programs. The role will also support the Scientific Advisory Council Aquatics sub-council as needed and will serve as an internal and external American Red Cross SME / liaison.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

  • Oversee and serves as subject matter expert regarding technical content developed for Training Services Aquatics programs and curriculum's.
  • Ensures the developed content incorporates and is in compliance with the guidance from Scientific Advisory Council and other relevant standard setting groups and organizations.
  • Provides on-site subject matter expertise during development of program materials including photo and video shoots and production.
  • Analyzes technical literature, writes descriptive copy, and verifies documentation. May coordinate the production and distribution of material.
  • Review content during the production phase to include media assets, rough cut videos, programmed online course material and print pages
  • Coordinate with internal cross-functional teams to meet target launch dates
  • Provides response as needed for questions from staff, instructors, students and training centers regarding aquatic programs and safety.
  • Provides education of staff, instructor, and instructor trainers
  • As requested, is speaker at professional organization meetings and trade shows
  • Serves as internal and external liaison based on need for scientific and medical expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Other business duties or tasks as assigned by the Training Services leaders.

PAY INFORMATION: The salary range for this position is $94,000. -126,000.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required in a related field (e.g., Recreation, Physical Education, Aquatics Management).
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent command of the English language in both spoken and written forms. Strong writing skills with a clear concise style and excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling; ability to work with templates using an electronic content management system.
  • Proven ability to present information to groups of various sizes. Evidence of speaking or teaching experience in healthcare education environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate, evaluate and re-mediate specialty area knowledge to the Red Cross standard.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or applicable software applications.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Travel: Ability to travel 10-25%

Physical Requirements: Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.

  • Current lifeguard certification and advanced water safety certifications.
  • Proven experience in aquatics program development, lifeguard training, and facility management.
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards and best practices in aquatics
  • Must be proficient in content editing and subject matter expertise, portfolio management and vendor/contractor management in publishing or related field.
