HIM Data Integrity Specialist

This position has the option of being fully remote, hybrid remote, or onsite. When in office this position will be located in Williston, VT.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs electronic record review concurrently and retrospective to the patient visit/admission to identify content, quality, compliance or other data errors impacting the integrity of the medical record, revenue, compliance or patient care. Ensures accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI). Must be able to interpret clinical content and apply regulatory requirements and established audit criteria to record content. Must be able to utilize various software systems to review and collect data and report audit findings. Works effectively with UVMMC and Health Network sites to communicate and coordinate strategies and solutions to support operationally sound workflows and systems for reliable patient information.

EDUCATION:

Associate level degree in health information management or related field or equivalent experience required. RHIT (registered health information technician) or certification in informatics, coding or compliance is required within two years of hire date.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five years of health information management related field such as medical transcription, coding or auditing, analytics, or other relevant clinical experience working with medical records in an acute care facility. Clinical office experience may be considered. Experience with Epic, GE and Onbase is preferred. Experience with Nextgate or EMPI systems is preferred.
