Who we are and what we do:

This position will serve in the General Sessions and Criminal Court of the 3rd Judicial District, in Morristown, Tennessee representing clients charged with misdemeanors and felony offenses up to and including first degree murder. Our office has a complement of 11 attorneys, 4 legal secretaries, 2 investigators, and an office manager with physical offices in Greeneville, Morristown and Rogersville, Tennessee. Most appellate representation in the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals and Tennessee Supreme Court is provided by the attorneys of the Appellate Division of the Tennessee District Public Defenders Conference.

Requirements: Applicants for this position must possess the following minimum qualifications: Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee Superior time management skills Highly organized Computer literacy o Must be literate with Outlook Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Adobe Acrobat Competitive applicants for this position will also possess the following qualifications: At least 10 years experience in criminal law Ability to speak Spanish criminal defense and/or prosecution experience State, federal, and/or military background Graduate of NCDC Trial Defense College In addition to demonstrated outstanding ability as a trial lawyer, attorneys seeking this position must: Have unquestionable character and reputation for integrity, Strong desire to obtain justice for clients, Have a high degree of personal time management skill, Have superb personal organizational skills, Desire to contribute to a team environment and be able to collectively learn and grow in the craft of trial advocacy, and Recognize the importance of attending to administrative details and duties.
