The Role

At QuidelOrtho, we're advancing the power of diagnostics for a healthier future for all. Join our mission as our next Facilities and Production Equipment Technician. This is a split shift role that supports manufacturing operations within a GMP-regulated environment by providing hands-on technical support to both production equipment and facility systems. This role is structured as approximately 60% Production Equipment Technician and 40% Facilities Technician; however, the allocation of responsibilities may shift based on operational priorities and business needs. The position also serves as a flexible, cross-functional resource, providing coverage for Production Equipment Technicians during PTO, sick leave, or other absences and supporting operations across all three shifts as required. The primary or normal shift for this role is day shift.

This position is located in Pompano Beach, Florida.

The Responsibilities

Production Equipment:

  • Provide on-the-line technical support during ongoing production operations.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic control system issues.

  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance (PM) on manufacturing equipment.

  • Technical support for equipment changeovers and setup activities.

  • Maintain equipment in a validated state and ensure compliance with GMP and quality requirements.

  • Document maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering to resolve technical issues and minimize downtime.

  • Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Facilities:

  • Perform general facilities upkeep (non-janitorial) and building maintenance activities.

  • Troubleshoot and repair building-related systems such as HVAC, air-conditioning units, water heaters, lighting, doors, and locks.

  • Support maintenance of utility systems and facility infrastructure.

  • Coordinate with external vendors and service contractors as required.

  • Assist in maintaining facility compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

  • Document maintenance activities in accordance with GMP and site procedures.

  • Support minor construction, modifications, and improvement projects.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work safely in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

  • Participate in shift coverage across all three shifts as needed.

  • Attend daily production or maintenance meetings and provide status updates.

  • Support audits and inspections as required.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Technical Degree orTrade Certification preferred.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing equipmentmaintenance and/or facilities maintenance.

  • Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment preferred.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and pneumaticsystems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, andmanuals.

  • Good documentation and technical writing skills.

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and across multiple shifts when required.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of HVAC and facility utility systems.

  • Familiarity with CMMS systems.

  • Structured problem-solving methodologies

  • Basic PLC troubleshooting knowledge.

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples.

  • Noise level: Sounds or a pitch that may cause distraction

  • Other factors: Frequent overtime, infrequent travel, emergency staff designations, or being on-call.

  • Up to 90% of the time you will be Sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

  • Other physical demands include bending, crawling, stooping, vision, grasping, climbing or balancing, kneeling, crouching, talking or hearing, tasting or smelling.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $26.00 to $34.00 hourly and is bonus eligible.
