Inside Sales Manager The Inside Sales Manager is responsible for developing and leading the inside sales function to drive revenue growth and strengthen customer relationships. This role will build the inside sales team from the ground up, establishing processes, recruiting and coaching team members, and creating scalable sales practices. The manager will also actively contribute to sales efforts while collaborating with field sales, operations, and customer service teams. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can both generate sales and build a high-performing team. Position Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Inside Sales team, overseeing daily sales activity, quoting, order management, and customer support to ensure timely and high-quality service.
- Build and manage a structured outbound sales model utilizing phone and email outreach to generate new opportunities, expand existing accounts, and drive revenue growth.
- Manage a defined set of customer accounts as a working manager, directly engaging in outreach, opportunity development, and sales execution to help prove and refine the outbound sales model.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for sales activity, pipeline development, quoting performance, and customer responsiveness.
- Partner with customers in industrial and manufacturing environments to identify automation opportunities and recommend solutions including sensors, controls, motion, drives, robotics, and related technologies.
- Collaborate with sales engineers, customer service, assembly, and warehouse teams to ensure accurate quoting, efficient order processing, and successful delivery of automation solutions.
- Support pricing strategy, product selection, and system configuration for industrial automation applications.
- Utilize ERP and vendor systems to track opportunities, manage orders, maintain documentation, and meet customer delivery expectations.
- Coordinate with operations on inventory, non-stock procurement, consignment inventory, returns, and order fulfillment to support sales execution.
- Review sales and operational reports to identify trends, resolve issues, and drive process improvements.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of automation product lines and vendor technologies to support customers and internal teams.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in industrial sales, automation, controls, or technical distribution.
- Proven experience in developing and leading a team
- Working knowledge of industrial automation products such as PLCs, sensors, drives, motion control, robotics, and HMIs preferred.
- Strong consultative selling, customer relationship, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across sales, operations, vendors, and customers.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
