This six-month trainee program is designed to set you up for success as you work toward obtaining the required licensure for the Transportation Equipment Operator A classification. During this time, you will gain hands-on experience, become certified on essential equipment used at your assigned work site, and learn the department's work rules, safety standards, and reporting procedures.

In this position, you will be responsible for determining the necessary actions to take while operating heavy machinery to complete designated tasks effectively. It is essential to apply your skills in equipment operation to achieve the desired outcomes while simultaneously ensuring a safe working environment for yourself, your fellow crew members, and the general public. This involves not only a thorough understanding of the machinery but also a commitment to adhering to safety protocols and best practices. Your ability to navigate the complexities of heavy equipment operation will be crucial in maintaining operational efficiency and minimizing risks associated with the job.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Travel, overtime, and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
- This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
- This position requires employees to demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
