Requisition ID req35978 Working Title Medical Education Program Specialist Position Grade 12 Position Summary The Department of Surgery is seeking to hire a self-motivated professional with excellent organizational and program development skills to serve as a Program Specialist (PS) of the General Surgery Residency Program. Under general supervision, this position will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative aspects of the General Surgery Residency Program. Responsibilities include recruitment, maintenance and tracking of documentation required for accreditation, coordination of schedules, tracking expenses and coordinating events such as graduation and retreats. This position also requires working closely with surgical residents and the program director. This is a position that requires strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions and a growth mindset. Organizational skills, ability to manage time and deadlines, and communicate effectively are a must. The applicant must have knowledge of policies and procedures in working with confidential files and records. This position involves database management and requires advanced scheduling skills. The program specialist coordinates and oversees all administrative aspects of a large Graduate Medical Education program, including but not limited to, recruitment and onboarding, designing and maintaining complex schedules, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory agencies, coordinating testing and educational experiences, and working directly with the Program Director and residents. The program specialist will serve as the principal contact with external agencies to facilitate compliance with requirements and other programmatic initiatives. Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications
