S1000D Specialist II POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting projects that utilize any subset of the S-Series specifications. Will work with internal team members on the successful completion of S-Series projects and ensure deliverables meet customer requirements, quality standards, and company policies and procedures. Contributes to project success through accurate XML/S1000D data module creation, validation, and technical problem-solving. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Authors and validates S-Series and S1000D data modules according to company and customer standards
- Follows established processes and business rules for XML data conversion projects
- Troubleshoots technical issues related to XML schema, BREX rules, and CSDB tools
- Collaborates with senior team members to ensure commitments and deadlines are met
- Supports process improvements by suggesting enhancements to internal documentation or tooling
- Provides technical assistance to other team members as needed
- Stays up to date on S-Series and S1000D specifications, tools, and best practices
- Participates in team meetings and project planning sessions
- May occasionally interface with customers under supervision for clarification or validation purposes
- Performs other job-related tasks as requested
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- General office environment; required to use office equipment (computer, telephone, photocopier)
- Required to sit/stand for extended periods
- May occasionally require overtime to meet project deadlines
- Limited travel required (estimated 5-10%)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technical Writing, or related field, or equivalent experience
Experience:
- 0-3 years of experience with XML/S1000D data module creation
- Experience with data validation and tooling preferred
Technical Experience:
- Familiarity with XML, CSDB tools, BREX rules, and S1000D specifications
- Ability to learn company-specific processes and standards
Certification / Licensure:
- Valid Driver's License if travel is required
- Represents organization in industry working groups (e.g., S1000D committees)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong technical skills in XML/S1000D data creation and validation
- Introductory understanding of XSLT and stylesheet application
- Basic understanding of data modules, publication modules, and BREX constraints( as applied, not authored)
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-40051, ATA Spec 1000BR, ATA iSpec (awareness level)
- Ability to follow instructions and established standards accurately
- Attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal team members
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
