Salary Range: $58,200 - $92,000 (Tech II)


What your job will be like:
Performing work under minimal supervision, this position will assist the senior rotating machinery technicians in maintaining the cryogenic group's various types of machinery. The incumbent will be involved in the daily operations of several large helium refrigeration plants. This may include starting/stopping machinery, system monitoring, opening/closing valves, and receiving gas deliveries. This position will require on-call and responding to after-hours operational emergencies. Other responsibilities will consist of maintaining, rebuilding, and operating various types of rotating and reciprocating machines such as helium screw compressors, helium reciprocating expansion engines, helium turbines, lubricating oil pumps, and all associated components. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining vacuum systems insuring uninterrupted availability of cryogenics.
In this job you will:
  • Lead aspects of maintaining, rebuilding, and operating various types of rotating and reciprocating machines such as helium screw compressors, helium reciprocating expansion engines, helium turbines, lubricating oil pumps, and all associated components.
  • Involved in the daily operations of several large helium refrigeration plants including, but not limited to gas transfers, equipment walkarounds, etc.
  • Lead aspects of starting/stopping machinery, system monitoring, opening/closing valves, and receiving gas deliveries.
  • On-call and responding to after-hours operational emergencies.
Experience
  • Required: 5 or more years relevant experience And
  • Required: experience directing other technicians and contractors. And
  • Required: experience with machinery alignment tools. And
  • Required: experienced in some discipline of machinery repair.
  • Preferred: machining experience
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree
Experience and Education Exchange

Education above the minimum may be substituted for experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires knowledge of proper use of hand tools, hardware, and power tools.
  • Able to read and interpret system drawings and machinery manuals.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Complete training for working in the Cryogenics Group, such as, but not limited to forklift, crane and rigging, ODH, Radiation Worker I, and Lockout/Tagout.
