Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Housing Administrator (Coordinator of Desk Operations and Housing Employment) serves as the primary managerial support for all aspects of Campus Housing student employee operations. This role oversees the implementation and management of 24-hour desk operations across campus housing facilities and ensures that housing and administrative policies align with institutional regulations and industry best practices.

The employee works to enhance residential employment programs to positively impact the quality of the student residential experience. Responsibilities include assisting with the recruitment, interviewing, selection, evaluation, and termination of student employees. The position also ensures that departmental residential student employment procedures remain compliant and consistent with best practices. This is a live-on-campus position.

Additionally, the employee directly supervises three Housing Officers.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Administration and Residence Life all hiring needs throughout the academic cycles and coordinate the student employment selection process and transaction of employment paperwork, compliance, and housing policies.
  • Create and maintain on-boarding process for all campus housing student employees.
  • Provide direct crisis intervention, counseling, and conflict resolution support to residents, as well as consultation and coaching to supervisees engaged in crisis response. This live-on campus position may require responding in an official capacity during unscheduled times and includes participation in an after-hours, on-call rotation. The role responds to crisis situations-including evenings, weekends, and holidays-and escalates complex or high-level concerns to senior management as appropriate.
  • Additional hours may be required to support campus events, facility preparation, and peak operational periods such as student move-ins and move-outs.
  • Oversee the staffing, supervision, best practices, scheduling, training, payroll, and operations, including monitoring and tracking key inventories of 3 housing area's 24-hour front desk operations: including the supervision of 3 housing officers.
  • Standardize and implement training curriculum, manuals, staff training, and professional development programs for all housing student staff employees, administrators, supervisors, and support staff under the direction of the Assistant Director.
  • Coordinate and complete several activities simultaneously, recommend changes in housing operations, policies, and procedures, along with the ability to navigate Microsoft Office suite and Star Rez/Housing Management system.
  • Represent the university to internal and external audiences.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

2. Any combination totaling six years from the following categories:

A. Housing, residential life, hospitality, business, or closely related work experiences.

B. College course work in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration, Hospitality Sciences, Business Sciences, Social or Behavioral Sciences, and/or related disciplines, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
  • 30 semester hours equals six (6) months
  • 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one (1) year
  • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years
  • 120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals three (3) years
  • Master's Degree or higher equals four (4) years

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of completing work schedule and interviews.
