Position Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Dining Services, the Nutrition Education Coordinator oversees all nutrition and wellness programs for Housing & Hospitality (H&H). The coordinator leads the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of evidence-based nutrition and wellness initiatives. The position develops and delivers education programs and services that support the nutritional needs of the Housing & Hospitality community and aligns with dining operations. It also coordinates wellness outreach events for students and team members within H&H. In partnership with senior dining leadership, the coordinator works with students, parents, and dining management to address individual nutrition needs related to medical conditions or food allergies. The role supports dining operations, student success, and employee wellness by providing nutrition education, consulting on menus, managing recipes and nutrition data, conducting training, leading outreach efforts, and ensuring compliance with nutrition and allergen standards. The coordinator also maintains and updates nutritional information for the Housing-Dining residential restaurants using the Jamix Food Management System.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years experience teaching nutrition, health, wellness courses, and body image education and program planning, and demonstrated working knowledge of the educational, research, and public service environment. (Required)
  • Experience teaching adult learners in higher education (Preferred)
  • Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
  • Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field. (Required)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with students, staff, and faculty. (Required)
  • Experience in counseling students individually or in groups on diet, wellness, or lifestyle behavior change. (Required)
  • Understanding regulatory and compliance issues for campus dining services and health programs. (Required)
  • Knowledge and skills of recipe modification techniques and the ability to train dining team members on use. (Required)
  • Knowledge of current and emerging methods of health promotion, education, behavior change and assessment. (Required)
  • Familiarity with diversity and inclusion in nutrition practice, especially relevant for culturally sensitive dietary programs. (Preferred)
  • Running or coordinating campus wellness programs, food services, or health campaigns. (Preferred)
  • Experience teaching nutrition, health, or wellness courses. (Preferred)
  • Ability to develop workshops for student and staff audiences. (Preferred)
  • Experience in nutrition research, data collection, and analysis. (Preferred)
  • Ability to work effectively as a team with chefs, restaurant managers, and dining team members. (Preferred)

  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) (Required)
  • Master's Degree Nutrition, Public Health or related field (Preferred)
  • Current, and continued maintenance of, Registered Dietitian certification Annual (Required)
