The Senior Financial Analyst - Hematology Oncology supports financial planning, analysis, and operational decision-making for Mass General Brigham Hematology Oncology as the program continues to expand across the system. This role performs a variety of analytical and technical functions including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, variance analysis, and provider compensation administration.
Working closely with clinical, operational, and administrative leadership, the Senior Financial Analyst provides financial insights that support strategic growth, operational efficiency, and financial discipline across Hematology Oncology. Key responsibilities include supporting financial planning and budgeting processes, managing financial data and reporting, preparing provider compensation reviews and compensation sheets, and delivering data-driven insights to support leadership decision-making. Strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency (Tableau experience preferred), and the ability to effectively communicate financial insights to clinical and operational stakeholders are essential for success in this role. Experience with enterprise finance systems (e.g., Workday and Strata) and working in complex, matrixed environments is strongly preferred. Essential Functions (Key Roles & Responsibilities) Financial Analysis & Reporting *Lead financial planning and analysis activities including annual budgeting, long-range forecasting, and monthly variance reviews. *Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accruals, intercompany transfers, and reconciliations are accurate and properly reflected in financial statements. *Prepare monthly and quarterly financial performance reports and analysis for leadership and operational stakeholders, translating financial data into clear insights for decision-making. *Identify cost-saving opportunities, revenue enhancements, and operational efficiencies through financial analysis and reporting. Budgeting & Forecasting *Lead the preparation and coordination of the annual operating budgets across departments. *Collaborate with department leaders to develop accurate and realistic budgets based on historical trends, volume projections, and strategic priorities. *Consolidate and analyze budget submissions to ensure completeness, consistency, and alignment with system-wide financial targets. *Prepare budget presentations and summary reports for senior leadership review. *Provide variance analysis and commentary to explain budget-to-actual differences with recommendations for corrective actions. *Conduct FTE analysis and ensure alignment of staffing budgets across role groups. Provider Compensation *Supports the development, analysis, and administration of provider compensation for the Hematology Oncology service line. *Prepare and maintain compensation sheets for Hematology/Oncology providers, including base salary, productivity incentives, leadership stipends, research support, and other compensation components. *Analyze wRVU productivity, clinical effort, and funding sources to ensure accurate compensation calculations and alignment with the approved compensation plan. *Respond to provider inquiries related to individual compensation calculations and provide clear explanations of compensation components, productivity metrics, and funding allocations. *Support the annual compensation planning process, including scenario analysis, validating compensation changes, and preparing summaries for leadership review.
