MaineHealth Surgical Care is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Burn Surgeon to join our comprehensive, multidisciplinary burn care team. The ideal candidate will provide expert clinical care for adult patients, ranging from acute burn resuscitation to long-term reconstruction and rehabilitation. This position involves a mix of inpatient care, critical care, operating room, and outpatient clinic, with opportunities to participate in research and education.

Maine Medical Center, Maine's only ACS verified level 1 trauma center, admits 4,000+ trauma patients, 600+ Critical Care patients, and 2,500 emergency general surgery patients each year. The Isla Estabrook Burn Center currently sees approximately 200 inpatient burn admissions and roughly 1,000 outpatient visits. The center is the only provider of comprehensive burn care to burn-injured patients in the State of Maine and Northern New Hampshire with a catchment area of roughly 1.5 million people. The Burn surgery division also provides surgical management of soft tissue defects and complex wounds for the institution. The position primarily encompasses all aspects of Burn and soft tissue surgery and surgical critical care. Based on candidate interest, participation in trauma & emergency general surgery coverage is available. Research programs in translational and clinical outcomes are in place and the candidate would be expected to participate in these efforts.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Fellowship-trained in Burn surgery. Experience with laser scar management and reconstructive procedures preferred.
  • Board Certification/Board Eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
  • Demonstrable academic interest in pursuing research, education, and/or administrative activities related to Burn and soft tissue surgery.
