Salary: $50-60 Hourly $50-$60 hr W2 + benefits + matching 401K
Our top financial client is looking for an experienced icon designer and illustrator to join the Design System team on a contract basis. This multi-disciplinary individual will help update our client's extensive library of illustrations and icons to reflect their evolving brand expression. In partnership with other designers and developers, the contractor will assist in all phases of the project, from creating, testing, and documenting the new style to working with developers to ensure successful implementation. What You'll Do: In collaboration with other designers and developers, assists in all phases of the project:
- Style research, ideation, iteration, and definition
- Prototyping and testing
- Documentation
- Technical implementation
- Library build-out (creation of dozens or hundreds of assets that work as a cohesive set)
- Contributes ideas and supports cross-functional stakeholders during human-centered design sessions and group discussions
- Collaborates with team members to ensure work meets agreed upon business requirements
- Supports member-focused research efforts and the synthesis of research findings to determine a creative direction that aligns with member needs, the brand expression, and the Reveille design system
- With guidance, creates and documents visual assets and specifications, leveraging icon design, illustration, and/or content design competencies
- Participates in critiques and design reviews to offer and receive relevant, focused, and actionable feedback
- Uses usability and accessibility best practices and experience in semiotics to identify and respond to risks, ensuring optimal member experiences in accordance with relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures
What You'll Bring (Mininium Experience):
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience in illustration, icon design, visual design, or product design, delivering complex design systems for web and native applications
- A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional creativity, craft, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness
- A demonstrated ability to work in several styles and methods, from precise vectors to expressive digital painting
- Experience developing cohesive, brand-appropriate, and scalable icon and illustration styles and executing them across hundreds of assets
- Experience creating and managing icon and illustration libraries for mobile and web-based applications
- Familiarity working with design system or style guide
- Experience collaborating closely with developers
- Experience working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment
- Proficiency with industry-standard design, prototyping, and workplace communication and collaboration applications
- Proficiency with the latest vector and raster design tools, including (but not limited to) Figma, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop
- Demonstrated understanding of new technologies, foundational human-centered design principles, user interface design and development best practices, native and web platform conventions, and usability as they apply to iconography and illustration
- Strong interpersonal, time-management, organizational, prioritization, and written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated, engaged, and able to work effectively within a team environment, with attention to deliverable timelines
What You'll Bring (Preferred Experience):
- Professional experience in user interface design, user experience design, and/or branding and identity design
- Type design experience, including knowledge of and ability to use font creation software (e.g., FontLab, Glyphs) for creating and editing custom typefaces and creating icon fonts
- Previous experience in user interface design, branding, and identity design
- Previous experience working on a significant brand refresh or rebranding initiative
- Proficiency in motion design and animation, including the use of motion graphics applications like Adobe After Effects
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $50 to $60. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location. #LI-MH1
