Responsibilities
The SIIM Application Engineer is the endtoend IT owner of SIIM (Systems Integration Information Manager), a core internal, proprietary project management system used across Circet USA's ISP BU to manage projects, quoting, materials, time tracking, approvals, reporting, and integrations with enterprise systems. SIIM is not a single application, but an ecosystem composed of:
- A C# desktop client
- A central SQL Server database
- SSIS packages and scheduled jobs
- Internal and external web applications (timesheets, approvals, portals)
- Realtime and batch integrations with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and other systems
This role is responsible for functional ownership, technical design, development, and architectural evolution of SIIM. In addition to maintaining and enhancing the existing platform, the SIIM Application Engineer will play a key role in defining and delivering the future modernization of SIIM, including framework upgrades, architectural refactoring, and potential cloud migration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Application Ownership & Strategy:
- Act as the primary IT owner and technical authority for the SIIM ecosystem.
- Ensure SIIM remains stable, performant, secure, and aligned with business needs.
- Own the SIIM technical roadmap, balancing business enhancements, support needs, and reduction of technical debt.
- Contribute to and help define the futurestate architecture of SIIM, including modernization initiatives (e.g., .NET upgrades, cloud components, integration redesign).
- Requirements Gathering & Solution Design:
- Work closely with business stakeholders and functional analysts to gather, analyze, and clarify requirements across engineering, operations, and finance.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical designs for SIIM and its integrations.
- Design solutions that respect SIIM's role as a system of record for projectrelated data while supporting ERPdriven financial processes.
- Application Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain the SIIM C# desktop client, ensuring usability, performance, and maintainability.
- Design and maintain SQL Server database objects, including tables, views, stored procedures, and performanceoptimized queries.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SSIS packages used for data synchronization, ERP integration, and automation.
- Develop and maintain connected web applications and services that share the SIIM database and support business workflows.
- Provide application support, including bug analysis, rootcause investigation, defect fixes, and preventive improvements across the SIIM ecosystem.
- Architecture & Integration:
- Own the application and data architecture of SIIM across desktop, web, database, and integration layers.
- Design and maintain integrations between SIIM and:
- Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
- Legacy and thirdparty systems
- Reporting and document management platforms
- Ensure data consistency, integrity, and traceability across all integration points.
- Modernization & Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in analysis and design of SIIM modernization initiatives, including:
- Framework upgrades
- Architectural refactoring
- Cloud or hybrid deployment models
- Identify components suitable for modernization, replacement, or decommissioning.
- Ensure modernization efforts are incremental, controlled, and businesssafe.
Documentation & Knowledge Management: Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, contribute to functional documentation and user enablement as needed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and/or QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience as an Application Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Strong handson experience with C# / .NET / ASP.NET development.
- Strong experience with SQL Server, including schema design, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Solid experience with SSIS or equivalent data integration tooling.
- Experience owning and evolving businesscritical internal applications.
- Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into robust technical solutions.
- Strong analytical mindset and sense of ownership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy application ecosystems.
- Experience with web applications, APIs, and servicebased architectures.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and hybrid architectures.
- Experience in telecommunications, construction, or projectdriven industries.
