Description
- Take ownership of the quality of every piece produced, ensuring excellence from start to finish.
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills.
- Perform programming functions, including the generation of lathe and mill programs.
- Conduct development, prototype, and experimental machine work using a range of machine shop equipment.
- Tackle complex assignments that require original design and the preparation of essential jigs, fixtures, and temporary tooling.
- Run multiple machines, adapting and improvising tooling as needed to achieve results in operations that demand expert knowledge of machining technology.
- Execute complex machining operations and troubleshoot and resolve intricate problems.
- Adapt equipment to meet special machining requirements and set up and operate manual and/or CNC machines on a daily basis.
- Review samples, drawings, or instructions to fully understand output specifications.
- Plan the sequence of actions required to complete each job.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and address minor damages.
- Organize daily workflow for efficiency.
- Act as a liaison with other team leads when required.
- Procure, coordinate, and distribute supplies as needed.
- Train new and existing employees on company procedures and job specifications.
- Assist in demonstrating the use of equipment.
- Collaborate with personnel and work with managers to report and resolve technical issues.
- Escalate unresolved situations to management when appropriate.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a machinist, demonstrating a strong commitment to excellence.
- Exceptional self-discipline, confidence in machining abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven recent experience as a machinist, with a minimum of 2 years in the field.
- Proficiency in operating manual, semi-automated, and automated tools and machines, including lathes, mills, VMC, and more.
- Skill in using precision measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers, to consistently achieve accurate measurements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of metal properties, particularly stainless steel (S/S) and carbon steel.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship is a strong asset.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and direction.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong attendance record and a positive attitude toward fulfilling responsibilities on an hour-by-hour, day-by-day basis.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and individuals.
- Proven ability to handle conflicts and navigate stressful situations in a respectful and positive manner.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with a systematic approach to task performance and meticulous documentation.
