| Primary Purpose of Position |
This position services as the Building Operations Associate - with responsibility for supporting the Library Facility Team by handling general building maintenance issues for the Atkins and Storrs Hight libraries and off-site storage facility in Concord, assisting with special projects and/or events, oversight of mail room activities, and the collection of recyclables. |
| Minimum Education/Experience |
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

| Essential Job Duties |
- Assists the Facilities Management team by troubleshooting simple facilities maintenance issues and determining their cause.
- Resets furniture in library study rooms on a regular basis.
- Assist with prepping and painting walls.
- Assist with drywall repairs (taping, corner bread, and final finish).
- Assist with assembly and small repairs to furniture and office equipment.

| Other Work Responsibilities |
- Collecting recyclables throughout the building.
- Works with the Facilities team to complete projects and tasks in a timely manner.
- Coordinates with the Facilities team to ensure the mail room activities are covered.

| Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
- Basic building maintenance repair and upkeep
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially MS Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of using UPS software and web-based shipping tools.
- Familiar with campus mail services procedures.
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving of freight, packages and parcels.
- Attention to detail, teamwork, communication and adherence to safety.
- Experience with event setup and furniture reconfiguration.
- Experience in Mail Room operations, logistics, materials handling, or inventory control,
- receiving, storage, redistribution of materials, or related operational support.
- Ability to properly use and care for all power and manual tools and equipment.
- Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and via written communication with all
- University personnel.
- Computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new
- programs required.
- Experience with campus events setup and furniture reconfiguration for these events.

| Necessary Licenses or Certifications |
Must have a valid NC driver's license. - The Maintenance Technician position requires a NC drivers license for the following:
- Provide pickup and delivery of items on campus using the library's vehicle.
- Provide backup for servicing the library's remote book drops.
- To receive training for and certification in use of the campus vans to transport staff to special events.
Position may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes. |
