The Manager, Corporate Taxation will manage all tax compliance projects including tax returns and financial statement provisions. Perform tax research and other projects or assignments as determined by management. Directs others on larger projects including consolidated tax returns of Banner Life Insurance Company. The position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.



Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

1. General

a. Manages large tax department projects, including oversight of staff on such projects.

b. Involved with training/developing/mentoring of employees.

c. Ensures timely delivery of accurate high quality work .

d. Assists in the oversight of day-to-day tax department work.

e. International Life Insurance Projects.

2. Tax Compliance.

a. Manages preparation of U.S. and state income tax returns.

b. Reviews income tax work papers and returns

c. Reviews premium tax returns.

d. Reviews property tax, excise tax, sales tax returns.

e. Reviews quarterly estimated tax and extension payments for income tax and premium tax returns.

3. Tax Accounting

a. Manages IFRS, US GAAP, and statutory quarterly and annual tax provisions

b. Leads Model Audit Rule process for tax department.

4. Tax Controversy

a. Assist VP, Corporate Taxaion and Senior Manager, Corporate taxation with tax audits.

5. Research and Planning

a. Assists VP Corporate Taxation and Senior Manager, Corporate Taxation with tax research and planning.

6. Performs other projects as assigned by Vice President, Corporate Taxation.



Qualifications

Education:

BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance

CPA or Masters of Tax.

Experience Knowledge:

8+ years of corporate tax experience

5+ years of life insurance tax experience

Public Accounting Experience

Strong Tax Accounting experience.

What's in it for you?

The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $107,800 - $148,200 annually. This is a hybrid opportunity working on EST.

The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses. This role is eligible to participate in the Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 20% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date. This role has 20 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
