Pay Grade & Range: 5000 $19.00 - $29.11(This is a representation of the position's entire pay grade range. Starting pay is based on an individual's skills, experience, and at the discretion of the hiring team.)
Status: This is a full-time; hourly position
Hours: Monday - Thursday: 5:00am - 2:00pm & Friday: 5:00am - 11:00am; overtime as needed

JOB SUMMARY: The Welder is responsible for making repairs and modifications to bronze memorials and a variety of other bronze products to maintain the item's aesthetic qualities.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
  • Using a tig welder or gas torch the welder modifies and repairs a variety of bronze products due to the natural imperfections of the casting process, which include filling and repairing holes and gouges.
  • Build up and fill in borders.
  • Repair backgrounds, textures, lettering and emblems, etc...
  • Transfer product from the production line to the welding booth by carrying them or using a cart; pieces can weigh as little as a couple of grams, to over 100 pounds, with the majority weighing between 10 and 30 pounds.
  • Add or remove various attachments to bronze plaques, such as threaded rod pegs, letters, punctuation, tabs and lugs, etc.
  • Trim and sculpt materials to blend textures.
  • Solder fill holes and silver solder attachments using a gas torch.
  • Maintain the flow of product into the shot blast machine, either by hand or using an overhead vacuum lift and run shot blast machine as required.
  • Coordinate work orders with products as they leave the shot blast machine.
  • Perform cleaning process on scroll boards, ring racks and screw racks by removing them from the paint line and using the wheelabrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • General knowledge of welding, TIG welding and solder techniques and skills.
  • Must possess strong abilities to exercise patience, as well as display sustained concentration and endurance in using fine motor skills due to the precise nature of the work required in this position.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production.
  • Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency.
  • General math skills.
  • Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
  • Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
