Summary

Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant applies advanced accounting knowledge to manage assigned accounting areas, lead components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, and support financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies. This role partners crossfunctionally, supports internal and external audits, and contributes to continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the financial accuracy and operational efficiency of a global public company.

Responsibilities

The Company is one of North America's leading sales and marketing agencies specializing in outsourced sales, merchandising, category management and marketing services to manufacturers, suppliers and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. The Company services a variety of trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics and home centers. We bridge the gap between manufacturers and retailers, providing consumers access to the best products available in the marketplace today.

Responsibilities

    Lead and execute assigned aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including journal entry preparation, review, posting, and preparation of supporting schedules

  • Perform detailed balance sheet account reconciliations and analyses while proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies

  • Partner with finance, operations, and other crossfunctional teams to support business activities and resolve accounting matters

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and explaining accounting conclusions

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency while supporting system enhancements and automation initiatives

  • Assist with interpretation and application of accounting policies and procedures

  • Provide guidance and informal mentoring to staff accountants as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree

  • Experience Requirements: 4-6 years experience in relevant field

  • Travel requirement: No travel requirements

Supervisor Responsibility

Direct Reports: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct reports

Indirect Reports: Does not have direct reports, but may delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience working in a SOXcompliant environment

  • Ability to meet close and reporting deadlines with strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments

  • Advanced spreadsheet proficiency and experience with enterprise accounting or close management systems

  • Adaptability and comfort operating in a fastpaced, evolving environment

  • Strong accounting judgment with a resultsoriented and continuous improvement mindset

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Office / Sedentary Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically, requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may require the ability to lift up to 10lbs.
