Summary
The Mounting Operator plays a critical role in the ophthalmic lens manufacturing process by ensuring that prescription lenses are accurately and securely mounted into eyeglass frames. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of optical standards to deliver high-quality eyewear products that meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
* Lens Mounting & Frame Fitting:
Accurately mount prescription lenses into designated frame sides (right/left), ensuring proper sizing, fit, and orientation. Utilize specialized beveling techniques tailored to individual prescriptions to achieve optimal lens placement.
* Frame Alignment & Adjustment:
Perform manual adjustments using hand tools to align frames according to optical standards. Ensure four-point contact, square temple alignment, minimal front wrap, and symmetrical pad arms. Correct any bridge twist and verify even temple closure for a balanced fit.
* Optical Verification:
Confirm the correct axis positioning for multifocal lenses, including bifocals and progressives. Ensure horizontal alignment and visual accuracy to support optimal wearer experience.
* Quality Control & Cosmetic Inspection:
Conduct thorough inspections of lenses and frames to identify and correct cosmetic defects, scratches, or imperfections. Verify that all components meet internal quality benchmarks and industry standards.
* Secure Assembly:
Tighten and secure all screws, ensuring there are no gaps in the eye wire and that lenses are firmly seated within the frame. Maintain structural integrity and durability of the final product.

Additional Duties
* Will be cross-trained and required to perform other lab duties as assigned and when needed

Key Skills Required
* Must be able to read prescriptions
* Able and willing to work as a team
* Must be able to work overtime and Saturdays when needed
* Able to read and write English language well
* Have good eyesight, had/eye coordination, manual dexterity, attention to detail and patience
* Can work independently

Experience Preferred
* Experience in a manufacturing or optical lab environment preferred

Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
* Regularly required to walk and stand
* Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms
* Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Safety Requirements
* Understanding of workplace safety programs
* Wear required PPE (closed-toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves)
* Safe tool handling practices
* Moderate to loud noise work environment with moving machinery
