Summary
Supports the organization's mission, vision, and values by maintaining a clean, safe, orderly, and attractive environment throughout all hospital departments, patient care areas, and support spaces, including hospital-controlled areas. Performs discharge cleaning as needed. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions Physical demands include standing for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting as required for housekeeping responsibilities. Performs the 8-step cleaning procedures, including daily cleaning, discharge cleaning, bed making, wall spotting, toilet cleaning, high- and low-dusting, and O.R. terminal cleaning. Works in a professional and safe manner at all times. Consistently uses caution signs and cones. Completes work from previous shifts as needed and reports incomplete assignments and maintenance issues. Cleans organic body waste (e.g., blood, body fluids, feces, sputum) as directed by a supervisor or team leader. Hangs cubicle curtains, shower curtains, and window curtains. Performs discharge cleaning and disinfects and/or sanitizes I.V. poles, pumps, and other patient equipment. Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply new procedures relevant to the healthcare environment. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes Licenses and Credentials Experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Must have ability to understand and converse in English at a level which allows safe, efficient, performance of the job. - Staff adheres to all I C.A.R.E. Standards. - Requires manual dexterity and ability to stand for long periods of time. - Performs all Environmental Services related tasks and demonstrates ability to follow department guidelines related to the work. - Performs basic and heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods. - Performs all environmental services tasks demonstrating services orientation to fellow employees, staff and patients. - Cleans patient equipment as requested by supervisor including beds and all room furnishings. - Assists in manpower support for office and/or related moves, special conference room set-ups and any other occasions as required. - Competent in using the proper chemicals for the proper tasks. - Ability to perform cleaning of emergency spills when observed and/or up on request. - In case of community disaster, assist nursing in making up extra beds and other duties as assigned.
