In the role of Hydraulic Structures Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform preliminary and detailed civil and structural analysis, evaluation, and design of concrete and steel water infrastructure including dams, spillways, floodwalls, outlet works, canals, diversion structures, retaining walls, cofferdams, foundations, and related facilities.
  • Assist with condition assessments and rehabilitation designs for existing hydraulic and waterretaining structures
  • Contribute to planning and design of fish hatchery and aquaculture facilities, including raceways, rearing ponds, intake structures, screening and fish passage systems, pump stations, and associated water conveyance and treatment systems.
  • Perform structural design for municipal and industrial wastewater facilities, including treatment basins, tanks, clarifiers, channels, pipe supports, foundations, and associated structures.
  • Develop engineering calculations, design alternatives, and technical memoranda, and contribute to design reports, feasibility studies, and planning documents.
  • Prepare and edit construction specifications; select materials, procedures, and component sizes; and support development of bid and construction documents.
  • Coordinate assigned structural design tasks with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams through design development and construction document phases.
  • Review drawings and documents from multiple disciplines to identify conflicts and ensure technical consistency, constructability, and code compliance.
  • Support development of cost estimates at planning, conceptual, preliminary, and final design stages.
  • Participate in meetings with regulatory agencies, clients, owners, and stakeholders to support permitting, regulatory compliance, and project coordination.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including review of submittals, responses to RFIs, addenda, and change proposals, and incorporation of approved changes into project documents.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control reviews, provide technical guidance to junior engineers and CAD staff as appropriate, and assist with proposals, scopes of work, and other project needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Previous structural engineer experience
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
