The Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the lab of George Hasko, MD, PhD.

Primary responsibilities are in the area of regulation of the host's response to hemorrhagic shock and organ ischemia-reperfusion injury by purinergic receptors including ATP and adenosine receptors. The experiments conducted will use animal models of hemorrhagic shock and ischemia-reperfusion injury. The research also comprises methods such as immunoblotting, ELISA, real-time PCR, biochemical assays and flow cytometry. The selectee will also assist with the instructing and training of students, fellows, technicians and laboratory assistants as required. In addition, the selectee will submit purchase recommendations of equipment and supplies to his/her supervisor. Additional duties may be assigned as required.



  • PhD and/or MD in the field of Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field.
  • Experience with mouse surgery is also required
