About Petco:

We're proud to be "where the pets go" to find everything they need to live their best lives for more than 60 years - from their favorite meals and toys, to trusted supplies and expert support from people who get it, because we live it. We believe in the universal truths of pet parenthood - the boundless boops, missing slippers, late night zoomies and everything in between. And we're here for it. Every tail wag, every vet visit, every step of the way. We are 29,000+ strong and together we nurture the pet-human bond in more than 1,500 Petco stores across the U.S., Mexico and Puerto Rico, 250+ Vetco Total Care hospitals, hundreds of preventive care clinics and eight distribution centers. In 1999, we founded Petco Love. Together, we support thousands of local animal welfare groups nationwide and have helped find homes for approximately 7 million animals through in-store adoption events.

Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Inventory & Order Management (Direct-to-Hospital Model):

  • Responsible for managing SKU-level purchase orders and vendor ordering strategies to support inventory availability across veterinary hospitals.
  • Execute inventory ordering within a direct-to-hospital vendor fulfillment model, where all products are shipped directly from vendors to hospitals (no Distribution Center inventory ownership).

  • Directly accountable for maintaining vendor fill rates that meet or exceed established service level goals.

Vendor & Supply Chain Management:

  • Proactively partner with vendors to manage performance, resolve supply constraints, and ensure consistent product availability to support hospital operations and patient care.
  • Own vendor setup and maintenance, including ordering parameters, lead time validation, and service level expectations to optimize replenishment outcomes.
  • Review and analyze vendor ordering patterns and demand profiles to improve service levels and achieve inventory and financial goals.

Forecasting & Cross-Functional Execution:

  • Partner closely with Demand Analysts to execute SKU lifecycle strategies, including item introductions, transitions, and discontinuations.
  • Support collaborative forecasting efforts by aligning order execution with demand plans, promotional strategies, and hospital-level consumption trends.
  • Identify and resolve inventory flow opportunities and constraints across the vendor-to-hospital supply chain to drive improved performance.

Performance & Operational Excellence:

  • Monitor and drive key performance indicators including fill rate, on-time delivery, and inventory productivity.
  • Perform root cause analysis on service or inventory disruptions and implement corrective actions in partnership with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in ordering processes, vendor performance, and overall supply chain efficiency.

Cross-Functional Partnership:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams including Demand Planning, Merchandising, Finance, and Hospital Operations.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders and vendors to ensure alignment on inventory strategies and execution.
  • Communicate effectively with partners to support business objectives and ensure operational alignment.
