What to Expect
The Commissioning Electrical Engineer plays a critical role in planning and executing electrical commissioning activities, for Medium Voltage (MV) systems. This position ensures compliance with NFPA 70E, NEC, NETA testing standards, and all project specifications. The Engineer provides technical expertise and support throughout the commissioning process, working closely under the guidance of the Electrical Commissioning Superintendent and Project Manager.

What You'll Do
  • Plan and coordinate MV energization activities, including vendor meetings, equipment inspections, review of contractor and vendor documentation, and preparation of switching procedures
  • Monitor construction progress to support upcoming commissioning activities and ensure readiness for testing
  • Assist with functional testing and troubleshooting of MV electrical equipment, maintaining adherence to applicable standards, specifications, and safety protocols
  • Complete, organize, and maintain commissioning documentation; submit RFIs and WREQs as required
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of commissioning processes, procedures, and documentation standards
  • Evaluate parameters and protective settings to verify functional integrity and proper system protection
  • Participate in design reviews and review electrical drawings, providing design feedback and offering technical input and recommendations

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 7 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, preferably with commissioning and Medium Voltage system experience
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NETA testing standards, very strong understanding and working knowledge of NFPA 70E standards and electrical safety requirements
  • Hands-on experience with switchgear, panelboards, and other commercial electrical installations, with proficiency in troubleshooting 480V and 4160V electrical systems
  • Understanding of electrical protection relays and protection schemes
  • Strong organizational skills for managing daily work, documentation, and technical reporting
  • Familiarity with commissioning management tools such as CxAlloy, WinPCS, or similar web-based systems
  • Experience in Electrical Design Engineering is a plus
