What to Expect
Tesla Infrastructure Development Team is looking for a highly motivated Structural Engineer to join the Infrastructure Engineering team. The Structural Engineer will support engineering design and construction of new and retrofit Tesla infrastructure projects across North America and Latin America. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
What You'll Do
- Serve as subject matter expert of the structural discipline within Infrastructure Development team
- Conduct structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, including validation and anchorage design for equipment and other non-structural components
- Create and draft complete structural details, taking full design ownership from concept through construction
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Design, Engineering, Real Estate, Construction, Tooling and Facilities
- Collaborate effectively with external consultants, third-party partners and vendors to ensure project success
- Manage and review engineering deliverables and construction documents to ensure compliance with local codes and Tesla specific requirements
- Develop and improve standards, guidelines and workflows related to the discipline to ensure structural design is consistent and efficient across all Tesla projects
- Think outside the box, make technical assumptions, apply engineering judgment, and challenge requirements
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2 - 5 years of work experience in commercial and industrial facilities
- EIT certification or completion of the FE exam. PE license is a plus
- Experience conducting structural analysis and design using both first principles analytical methods and structural software such as, ETABS, SAP2000, RISA-3D, RAM and ENERCALC
- Strong knowledge of different structural systems, materials and construction processes
- Familiarity with International Building Code, US and Canada National building codes and other Structural Design standards
- Proficiency in 2D/3D drafting software, such as Auto CAD and Revit
