Grant Accountant Department: Finance Reports To: Vice President/Chief Financial & Technology Officer Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary The Grant Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial management of workforce development programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and funding agency requirements. This role manages grant budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting while maintaining accurate and compliant financial records.
The Grant Accountant works closely with Program Managers and the Planning Unit to provide financial guidance, analyze data, and support program operations, ensuring all grant activities align with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities Grant Accounting & Compliance Maintain and track grant budgets, expenditures, and funding allocations. Ensure all costs meet Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) requirements Monitor spending and ensure compliance with grant rules and timelines Prepare financial reports, invoices, and reimbursement requests Maintain accurate and audit-ready documentation Support audits, monitoring reviews, and internal compliance checks Identify risks, review internal controls, and recommend process improvements
Program & Financial Aid Support Manage the Customer Financial Support System and oversee the process of job training and supportive services for all programs (ITA, OJT, Internship, and Supportive Services). Coordinate with training providers, employers, and vendors regarding participant-related costs Ensure compliance with E-Verify and program requirements. Provide technical support to program staff and ensure Program Managers have timely and accurate access to program and participant information
Subcontractor & Vendor Oversight Review and approve invoices from training providers, employers, and vendors Work with subrecipients and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate reporting Verify participant eligibility and services before payment approval Ensure expenses align with contracts and program policies Track subcontractor budgets and expenditure Resolve discrepancies in collaboration with program staff and vendors
General Accounting Support Assist with general ledger reconciliations and journal entries Support month-end and year-end closing processes Prepare financial reports for management and funding agencies
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or grant-funded environment Knowledge of grant accounting and compliance Experience reviewing vendor or subcontractor invoices Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems Must have personal transportation, a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance Must be able to pass a background check
