We are seeking a Lead Estimator for Data Center Security Installation to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit. As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.


Responsibilities

The Lead Estimator works on data center security installation construction project pricing at the bid and proposals phase only. This role is responsible for managing a bid from Request for Proposal receipt through to contract award.

  • Develop budgets for projects; assist in the preparation of technical proposals, to include assisting in the design and writing of the scope of work, management plans, work sequence, safety, quality control and commissioning.
  • Gather data and assist in preparing bid proposal estimates and design/build proposals.
  • Perform take-offs from drawings.
  • Develop and present clear and detailed project scopes to the customer and meet with potential customers to present proposals.
  • Ensuring the bid complies with all standards, specifications and budgets.
  • Develop project schedules utilizing the Critical Path Method; assign cost and manpower to the schedule to provide cash and manpower forecasting.
  • Understand plans and specifications to identify the types and grades of materials and equipment needed and to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Gather data and assist in preparing bid proposal estimates and design/build proposals.
  • Understand and apply cost fundamentals; maintaining current, accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience with a related associates degree,12+ years of experience with a High School diploma or GED.
  • Proficient with Accubid; experience using sophisticated Estimating
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Knowledge of design principles, relevant codes, and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials and specifications.
  • Experience with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum, specifications, and change orders.
  • Experience or exposure to Technical writing.
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and organize one's own activities or the activities of others.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials and specifications.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Experience with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of electrical plans, blueprints and drawings.
  • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work.
  • Generating high quality work.
  • Working well with others in order to reach a common goal.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is required.
  • Must be experienced with Deltek ProPricer estimating software.

Desired Skills:

  • Local candidates preferred.
  • Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) (Nice to Have)
  • Journeyman Electrician License
