Summary: The Technical Program Manager, AI & Platform Enablement is responsible for coordinating and governing the delivery of AI and automation initiatives across the American College of Surgeons. This role ensures that interconnected initiatives progress in a coordinated, transparent, and risk-aware manner while preserving flexibility and momentum. This role focuses on enterprise-level coordination, dependency management, and executive visibility as well as ensures the day-to-day work gets done. The Technical Program Manager partners closely with product, platform, security, data, and vendor teams to support disciplined delivery and informed decision-making.

This exempt position will report to the Senior Manager, IT Strategic Projects in the Division of Information Technology. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 (commensurate with related experience).

Key Responsibilities:

Program & Portfolio Coordination



  • Coordinate delivery across AI, platform, data, security, and vendor teams.
  • Manage dependencies, sequencing, and capacity across a portfolio of initiatives.
  • Support execution of the AI and platform roadmap in partnership with product leadership.


Risk Management & Governance



  • Identify, assess, and actively manage delivery, security, privacy, and compliance risks.
  • Ensure governance checkpoints are embedded without unnecessary process overhead.
  • Partner with Legal, Security, and Compliance teams to support responsible delivery.


Executive Visibility & Decision Support



  • Establish and manage a reporting framework for AI initiatives across the organization, ensuring consistent tracking of adoption, outcomes, and risks, and delivering actionable insights to the Executive Steering Committee.
  • Provide clear, outcome-focused reporting to IT and executive leadership.
  • Surface risks, trade-offs, and decision points in a timely manner.
  • Support portfolio planning, funding alignment, and long-range delivery planning.


Additional Responsibilities



  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and alignment.
  • Support continuous improvement of delivery and governance practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Education and/or Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required. Degrees in IT, Computer Science, Business Operations, Engineering, or related analytical discipline are preferred.
  • At least 5-7+ years of experience in program or portfolio management, managing multiple interconnected issues and enterprise-scale technology initiatives, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience using AI tools is required.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate delivery, security, and compliance risks.
  • Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information into clear, decision-ready insights.
  • Ability to drive stakeholder alignment across teams without direct authority.
