Job Description

Summary

  • Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes
  • Assess processes by measuring and interpreting data
  • Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes.

Essential Functions

  • Understands and follows all safety procedures, including personal protective equipment.
  • Develops and supports a manufacturing environment to provide a safe and environmentally responsible production process through design and implementation of improvement projects.
  • Assures that outside contractors are informed and follow all visitor and safety procedures, including personal protective equipment.
  • Reports all accidents, near misses, equipment damage, etc. promptly.
  • Follow and improve plant established good housekeeping policies and practices.
  • Assures compliance with applicable industry standards and legal requirements where necessary.
  • Develop, design, and implement process improvements for equipment and machinery.
    • Plan, coordinate, and assist with projects; meet budgets and timelines.
    • Develop vendor relationships, work with outside contractors and service providers.
    • Identify, promote, and provide solutions for continuous improvement throughout the product cycle from heat make-up and processing through final product shipment.
    • Identify, research, and recommend cost reductions.
    • Review and evaluate specifications on supplies, such as refractory, furnace liners, etc.
    • Assist in developing processes to meet specialized design and performance specs.
    • Actively participate in cost reduction programs by proposing new cost reduction initiatives.
    • Develop manufacturing processes; design, modify, fabricate, build assemble, and install.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
    • Prefer of 3 years' experience in a melting environment or equivalent advanced education.
    • Experience with project management.

    Competencies

    • Background with EAF and Induction furnaces, and AOD processing preferred.
    • General understanding of quantitative analysis.
    • Work in a fast-paced environment with fast-changing priorities.
    • Continually update knowledge and industry trends.
    • Capable of hands on problem-solving, with ability to generate ideas and solutions.
    • A positive and determined approach to researching and analyzing new business opportunities.
    • Must be creative, detail oriented, possess a strong work ethic, be willing to learn and have a burning desire to succeed.
    • Strong communication skills in all forms including, written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation.
    • Establish good working relationships with leadership team, peers, production team, customers, vendors and contractors; team oriented.
    • Good working knowledge of all MS Office applications and internet applications.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to handle competing demands and to prioritize tasks.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision and use own initiative.
    • Able to work out/with normal office hours as business requires.
    • Ability to travel within and outside the US as frequently as needed to meet business demands.
    • Performs all aspects of the position according to the PCC Code of Conduct, PCC Cardinal Rules of Quality and Safety and SOX guidelines.

    Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Occasionally this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas, which requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as but not limited to safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection and flame retardant clothing. May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the office setting with exposure to climate changes, uneven surfaces, heights, noise, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
