JOB SUMMARY

The High Voltage Test Technician will perform testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of Phenix/Doble test equipment. This role will be based at our Accident, MD location reporting to Test Department Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Test and calibrate Phenix/Doble test equipment.
  • Use of kilovoltmeters, multi-meters, potential transformers, current transformers, and other equipment used for testing and calibrating high voltage, high current test equipment.

    • Document complete test procedures performed on test equipment.
    • Record all test, calibration, and system data.
    • Work directly with Engineering team on design changes and issues that arise while testing and calibrating.
    • Complete all necessary documentation for test equipment such as filling out standard logs, any certifications, and documents to prepare the unit for shipment.
    • Make recommendations to improve design, quality, or production methods and processes.
    • Complete in-house training or virtual training of test equipment.
    • Work directly with customers to resolve troubleshooting issues.
    • Assist with telephone support.
    • Communicate with Engineering, Service Department, and Sales to meet demands of testing activities.
    • Ensures the Design Engineer is informed of any modifications made.
    • Assist and train Service Technicians on the operation and functionality of newly designed test equipment.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.


  • Responsible for confirming test equipment is designed, manufactured, and meets all sales specifications listed on the Sales Order.
  • Ability to make modifications to the design, ensuring that all modifications or changes are documented.
  • Responsible for confirming the calibration of the test equipment accurately meets specifications.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:



  • Associates Degree in Electrical Technology, or Electronics
  • 2 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:



  • Proper use of electrical test equipment to include oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and similar type equipment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):



  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers

    • Experience with high voltage, high current test equipment
    • Experience with Partial Discharge Systems
    • Familiar and comfortable interacting with customers
    • Ability to operate fork truck, manlift, and overhead cranes




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with customers.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds. Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Hourly Pay Range Minimum $23.40 - Midpoint $29.25
