Position Summary MIDWIFERY FACULTY POSITION - OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY
UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

The University of New Mexico (UNM), School of Medicine (SOM) and Health
Sciences Center (HSC) is seeking a full scope nurse-midwife that will
contribute actively to the climate of diversity and inclusivity. We invite
applications for an Open Rank, Lecturer Track position in Midwifery. UNM
Obstetrics and Gynecology's Midwifery Division has a busy clinical practice and
is active in education.

We are a large midwifery group practice that provides full scope midwifery care
within the UNM Health System. We are group of diverse and dedicated midwives
who are passionate about patient care, advocacy, health system improvement, and
education of the next generation of clinicians. This is a full time clinical
position within an academic system which includes clinical teaching of a
variety of learners. This is not a didactic teaching position. Our role as
faculty within the SOM provides many opportunities for interdisciplinary
collaboration & professional growth based on your interests. New Mexico
offers autonomous midwifery practice, beautiful high desert outdoor adventures,
and sunny weather almost every day. Come join us!

The position will manage women's health care, focusing particularly on
pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, care of the newborn, and the family
planning and gynecologic needs of women. The position will practice within the
health care system incorporating appropriate consultation, collaborative
management, or referral, as indicated by the health status of the client. The
position will practice in accord with the Standards for the Practice of
Midwifery, as defined by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. The candidate
hired will be expected to participate in the education and training of student
nurse midwives and other advanced practice providers, medical students,
residents and fellows in the clinical setting. Classroom education of these
learners may also be a possibility. This position requires a demonstrated
commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; student success; and effective
engagement with broadly diverse communities.

The UNM HSC is the largest academic health complex in the state. HSC combines
its four mission areas - education, research, patient care and community
outreach - to provide New Mexicans with the highest level of healthcare. The
SOM is celebrated for its innovation in medical education and has earned a
reputation for prioritizing diversity in the workforce. The lifestyle is
also very attractive: Albuquerque, a beautiful city with mountains to the east
and a mesa to the west, is renowned for its fantastic weather. Outdoor
activities are abundant and the cost of living is moderate, while offering all
the amenities of a large city. The state of New Mexico is multicultural and
diverse with excellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, multiple cultural
and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts and mountains.

This position offers a competitive compensation (salary commensurate with
experience) and benefits package to include health, professional liability and
disability insurance, relocation support, retirement plan, and CME
support.
