Overview

The D440 SSN Payload Launch Control department is responsible for systems, hardware, test, and project engineering for the design, development, and qualification of payload launch control and handling systems and components supporting VIRGINIA, SSNX, and AUKUS class submarines and other payload platforms. The department also provides integration and deckplate construction support, as well as modernization and fleet support of payload systems. These systems include vertical Tomahawk missile, horizontal ADCAP torpedo, internal and external countermeasures, weapon and payload handling, and combat control systems. These systems are mission and safety critical and comprised of embedded closed loop complex electronic control systems having stringent safety and security requirements, in addition to requiring high reliability, availability, maintainability and usability. Successful development and qualification of these complex systems are achieved through leveraging CMMI and systems engineering principles.

The D440 SSN Payload Launch Control department is hiring systems, hardware, test and project engineers for experienced positions. Engineers will be responsible for concept designs, requirements definition, specification development, test plans and procedures, drawing development, vendor oversight, trainers, and ownership of the end to end production process. Technologies leveraged include highly accurate computer processing and sensors, rugged cabling, displays/OMIs/GUIs, and networking protocols. Emerging and evolving technologies include AI/ML, Cybersecurity, common compute environments, and increased mechanical automation of complex electronic control systems.
