As an Allied Universal Security Officer at a shelter location, you will patrol assigned areas, stay visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and support residents, guests, and staff with strong customer service and communication. In this unarmed role, you will contribute to a caring, reliable team that puts people first, responds with integrity, and brings an agile approach to daily responsibilities.

Job Schedule:

What You'll Do:

Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities appropriate to a shelter environment.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting details and communicating observations to site leadership when needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including interior areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter spaces, to help to deter unwanted activity and identify unusual conditions.
• Monitor access points and verify authorized entry, offering directions and assistance while following post orders and established security-related protocols.
• Support a respectful and professional atmosphere by reporting policy violations, assisting with de-escalation when appropriate, and coordinating with emergency services and/or management as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• A New York State Security Guard License is required.
• At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
