Position Title: Clinical Pharmacist 1

Work Location: Remote

Assignment Duration: 3 months

Work Schedule: 9am - 6pm EST (No OT)

Work Arrangement: Remote

Position Summary:

The main function of a pharmacist is to dispense prescription medications to patients and offer expertise in the safe use of prescriptions.

They also may conduct health and wellness screenings, provide immunizations, oversee the medications given to patients, and provide advice on healthy lifestyles.

Pharmacy Appeals Department - Dept 247. Inclusive team culture, learning environment. Department growth due to increased volume.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow.
  • Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and counseling patients.
  • Develops staff pharmacological knowledge through training.
  • Complies with state and federal drug laws.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment.
  • Maintains pharmacological knowledge through education.
  • Contributes to team effort.
  • Reviews prior authorization requests and evaluates approval criteria.
  • Verifies member eligibility and prescription coverage.
  • Reviews chart notes, lab values, and prescription history.
  • Applies medical policy criteria for approvals/denials.
  • Communicates with physicians regarding formulary, benefits, and alternatives.
  • Compiles and analyzes drug utilization data.
  • Supports formulary decisions and P&T Committee.
