Location: Onsite Rockford, IL or Jacksonville, FL


Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8a-5p


Salary: $83,300 - $104,029 annually based on experience



What work will you perform?


Leads the development and execution of strategic initiatives to grow Landstar owner-operator and Savings Plus capacity. Provides leadership and oversight for recruitment and capacity development operations, ensuring alignment with company objectives, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and service excellence. Drives team performance through effective leadership, process improvement, relationship management, and data-driven decision-making in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Develop, understand, communicate, and attain Landstar capacity objectives
  • Identify opportunities for improvement related to team processes, driving efficiencies, productivity, and customer satisfaction
  • Comply with DOT/FMSCA requirements
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and recruitment metrics are met
  • Plan, assign, and direct work that is results-focused and develop leadership and managerial skills within the department
  • Interview, hire, and train employees to thrive in a production, results-driven environment
  • Establish effective KPIs for employees consistent with quality and growth objectives, and manage their performance
  • Management responsibilities for a team of about 15 individuals to include training, scheduling work, performance appraisals, hiring, and firing


  • Represent and develop relationships with vendors and relevant organizations external to Landstar
  • Monitor and manage the quality and contribution of work product


  • Develop and manage departmental budgets



Required Minimum Experience and Education:



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, fleet capacity development, operations management
  • 2 years of direct people management experience



Preferred Experience and Education:



  • 2 years of experience with DOT/FMCSA regulations
  • 2 years of experience recruiting, qualifying, and/or supporting Owner Operators
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain, transportation, or other related field



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Ability to learn and understand regulations
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel and to work outside of normal schedule as needed
  • Excellent presentation skills, including large audiences
  • Ability to drive process improvements
