Automatic Transmission Valve Body and Hydraulics Engineer

The candidate will be the automatic transmission valve body and hydraulics components product design and release engineer and will have a strong foundation in valve body components and hydraulic system design for automatic transmissions and EDMs.

The candidate will possess the knowledge of designing and developing hydraulic components that include valves, springs, orifice sizing calculations, solenoids (proportional, on-off, variable, & PWM), internal transmission wiring and connectors and pumps.

The candidate will have knowledge and working experience relating to valve body design best practices, casting, machining, and assembly and will:



  • Lead the design and development of valve body components such as valve body castings, separator plate, valves, springs, bushings, seals & solenoids
  • Collaborate with the cross functional teams to develop clean-sheet designs and optimize existing components for performance, manufacturability, and cost
  • Review engineering drawings towards conformance with the product inspection sheets. Review engineering stacks
  • Lead root cause investigations and quality initiatives for valve body related issues such as contamination, dimensional variation, line pressure oscillations, fault codes through engineering tools such as 8D, fishbone, 3L5Y


Basic Qualifications:




  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field


  • 5 or more years of industry experience in automatic transmission engineering


  • Experience in launching transmission hydraulics components into mass production from concept to production validation


  • Effective communicator with the ability to work across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier teams
  • Greenbelt or Blackbelt Certification



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Masters Degree in Engineering
