Ziegler CAT has an opening for a Field Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain Caterpillar's Minestar suite of Technology products, on various CAT Mining equipment, to support customers surrounding our Buhl location. A company truck is provided.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 to $51.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant's location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:

Responsibilities:

  • Performs troubleshooting and repair for all supported MineStar onboard products including (but not limited to): MineStar Fleet, Edge, Terrain, Health, Detect, and Command.
  • Performs field installations of any MineStar technology systems on both existing and new machines
  • Understand and perform configurations relating to MineStar technology systems and their interaction with customer networks
  • Works closely with Technical Support team to: develop and implement a preventive maintenance program related to MineStar products; assist with development of training program; and occasionally assist with technical training relating to MineStar solutions
  • Uses a high degree of independent judgment, and assumes responsibility for the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex equipment and systems
  • Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
  • Responds to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
  • Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction; identify and communicate the need for parts for inventory

Qualifications:

  • 2-year technical college degree in electrical, mechanical, or related field; or high school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in technology, electronic, or equipment repair, preferably some field experience
  • Strong interest in the technology and electronics field
  • Experience with CAT mining equipment; experience with CAT technology systems including MineStar, CAT Grade, or VisionLink preferred
  • Working knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively, interact with supervisors, customers and team members
  • Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
  • Own mechanic tool set
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment including service truck
  • Willing and able to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by the supervisor
  • Able to operate equipment safely
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record
  • Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen & physical due to the role being deemed safety-sensitive
  • DOT Med card or ability to obtain is required
  • Class A CDL or willingness to obtain one within a defined period

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Push/pull up to 50 lbs

  • Lift/carry up to 60 lbs

  • Lift bulky objects

  • Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping - able to use bolt box.

  • Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
