The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a dedicated Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2 to provide essential treatment, counseling, and support services to inmates at the State Correctional Institution at Pine Grove. In this role, you will play a vital part in promoting rehabilitation, reducing recidivism, and supporting incarcerated individuals as they work toward recovery and successful reentry. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2, you will provide counseling, treatment support, and structured programming for inmates working toward recovery from substance use. In this role, you will perform the following duties:
- Program Facilitation: Lead therapeutic groups, support recovery activities, and promote positive behavioral change
- Case Management: Maintain case files, develop treatment plans, and organize counseling schedules
- Counseling Services: Provide individual and group counseling and coordinate with community and facility resources
- Assessment Work: Conduct assessments and make recommendations based on policy and inmate history
- Support Meetings: Oversee voluntary recovery meetings and assist inmates with enrollment and participation
- Training Guidance: Provide direction to new staff, students, or volunteers and complete required training

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,301.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a "Certified Addictions Counselor"; or
- Two years of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and a bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences; or
- One year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in the behavioral sciences.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
