THE POSITION

As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Corrections, you will play a key role in keeping medical services running smoothly at SCI Camp Hill. This position gives you the chance to support staff who rely on clear records and reliable tracking. Your efforts will help the team respond quickly when issues arise and maintain a well organized workflow. This is an opportunity to grow your skills while contributing to important daily operations.




DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the Medical Department by organizing information, tracking key requirements, and helping maintain smooth administrative operations. The work helps ensure timely responses and reliable documentation across many important processes. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Credential Tracking: Track licenses, credentials, liability insurance, and required certifications for Medical Department staff and vendors
  • Meeting Support: Take and type minutes for Medical Department meetings and maintain related documentation
  • Record Maintenance: Update and organize reports, folders, filings, and tracking logs for ongoing and monthly requirements
  • Gate Clearances: Process, update, and monitor gate clearances for staff, vendors, and other required personnel
  • Schedule Coordination: Create master schedules, track employee and position information, and submit change forms to HR
  • General Support: Assist with clerical tasks such as room reservations, COMPASS input, surplus needs, and other assigned duties

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Possess keyboarding skills to meet standards for speed and accuracy.
  • Understand how to efficiently use and navigate a personal computer.
  • Have the ability to work with various office equipment such as: scanner, printer, fax machine, computer, tablet, telephone, personal communication devices etc.
  • Two (2) years or more of experience with electronic communication tools/skills, such as video conferencing, and creating meetings in Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • Able to stand and operate document scanning machines.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
